Barbara & Karen celebrate the power of purple in Virtual Styling #299. It’s November and that means it’s We Care Card time and tine to raise awareness for pancreatic cancer. The West Hartford Center We Care Card beneficiary is the Ron Foley Foundation. For those that don’t know let’s tell you how it works!!
The “We Care Card” offers a unique way for residents and visitors of West Hartford Center, to support a meaningful cause while enjoying local offerings. You purchase a card for a donation of $50, which entitles you to discounts up to 20% at participating shops and restaurants in The Center. All proceeds from card purchases funnel directly to the Ron Foley Foundation’s mission of supporting pancreatic-cancer patients, caregivers, and research efforts around this particularly devastating cancer.
Founded in memory of Ron Foley, who passed away from pancreatic cancer, the Foundation emphasizes early detection, patient-aid programs, education, and public awareness. This card initiative is one of the tangible ways local contributions get converted into real help—whether it’s assisting with household bills, transportation for treatment, or supporting clinical-trial outreach. It’s a win-win: donors receive value, businesses get support, and patients benefit.
Practical tips for participation:
First, purchase the card early so that you have it ready for the entire discounted-shopping window. Second, make sure to note the participating merchants and what each offers (up to the 20% discount). You’ll want to plan your visits accordingly to maximize value. Third, treat the event not just as a shopping spree but as an opportunity to engage with the community—perhaps turn your visit into a mini walking tour of West Hartford Center, stopping at local stores and eateries you haven’t frequented before. Lastly, share the initiative with friends and family: the more participants, the greater the collective impact on both local business vitality and the Foundation’s mission.
Okay, let’s get started with the power of purple and some fabulous BK&CO fashion!
